Local rules changing online card and dice gameplay

I recently tried an online version of a dice game I used to play with friends, and the rules were slightly different than what I remembered. Turns out, those changes came from a regional variation. Same with certain card games — the online platforms seem to adjust them depending on where the players are from. It’s kind of cool, but also confusing if you’re used to one version. I even found an article about how these local tweaks affect online play: https://doms2cents.com/stories/regional-online-game-variations-cultural-differences-and-betting-preferences/. Have you run into this too?

It shows how games evolve to fit their communities. Even small changes in rules can shift the whole strategy and pace of play. That variety makes online gaming less predictable and keeps it fresh for players who are open to trying different styles.
